I could be wrong (it’s happened once or twice before) but I think Rainbow falls is one of the greatest tourist gems hidden away in Manitou Springs. It’s not so much that you get to see rainbows – I definitely expected rainbows my first time – as it is that the falls are so colorful because of all the graffiti art. It may sound strange, but it really is beautiful!

The falls are in a tiny gorge on a road out of Manitou Springs. There’s a parking lot, and a short walk back to the falls. So you get some exercise, you can let your kids burn off their energy, but there’s no acclimation required! And as my husband would say, the falls and the art create a very low work-to-reward ratio. For such an easy hike, there are some spectacular surroundings and photo opportunities! Also… it’s free. Can’t beat that.
